- Alta Bates Summit Women and Infant Center of Excellence - Alta Bates Summit Medical Center is where your baby will be born. Alta Bates is a nationally recognized medical center, delivering more babies than almost all other California hospitals. With approximately 7,400 deliveries each year Alta Bates is one of the largest, non-academic delivery centers in the country. Alta Bates has a Level III NICU which means there is a wide variety of staff on site and available 24 hours a day, including neonatologists, neonatal nurses and respiratory therapists should your baby need any extra assistance.
- Pre-registration - You can expedite your admission to Alta Bates by completing as much of the registration process as possible ahead of time. The online form takes about 10 minutes to complete.
- Maternity floor tours - To help prepare for the logistics of your baby’s arrival and become more familiar with the hospital, please take at least one tour of Alta Bates ahead of your due date. The more your visit the hospital before your baby’s arrival, the more comfortable you will be when you arrive in labor with the setting and environment of the hospital.
- Sibling programs - Alta Bates offers a “Tours for Tots” program and a Big Brother, Big Sister class. This program is another great opportunity to visit the hospital (and with your older child) before your baby’s arrival.
